I am not my hair… but sometimes I kinda feel like I am.
From afro puffs as a little girl, to stacks and freeze curls in my teens, to Hawaiian silky relaxers in my young professional days, and now back to natural curls… this crown has seen it all when it comes to black hair care. 👸🏽 And while I know my hair does not define me, I do love to use it as a high fashion (or sometimes political) statement. The versatility I now have allows me to tell you right up front whether I’m down with whatever or if I ain’t playing with you today. And people are always surprised when I tell them I also wear wigs, weaves and clip-ins. “You got all that hair and you buy more hair?” Yes and yes. As a naturalista, sometimes I need to put my hair away in a protective style, sometimes I want a new “lewk” and sometimes I’m just lazy. And in the words of Tabitha Brown, that’s my business.
Getting Ready for Ghana
Out of all the pre-journey stories leading up to my first trip to the motherland, the most hilarious was getting my hair braided with faux locs. It wasn’t the vaccinations, figuring out how much to pack or deciding how much I was going to spend. It was my HAIR. Listen, a black woman must have her “hair travel plan” in order! PERIODT!

Hair do’s and don’t’s
Some days I love it, and some days I want to big chop it all off. I keep saying when I turn 50, I’m going short and blonde! Any hoot, until then, follow me for my latest hair care stories, tools and suggested products.
I’m always reviewing and rating something
